Holiday open house

This past weekend Meghan and I had our Holiday Open House. We had our Arbonne holiday items, Gold Canyon candles, Initials Inc., and some really cute wall boards (http://www.shopsmallwords.com/). We had lots of fun. If anyone still needs any Arbonne or candles, let me know.

Landon and Mia went to Alabama to stay with their awesome Aunt Jen and cousins Kyler, Kierstyn, and Trevin. Check out Jen's blog to see all the fun and exciting things they did. Logan got to stay the night with Mama Mary and Granddaddy on Friday night. They took him to the trunk-or-treat on Friday night and shopping on Saturday. Logan has not been the same since.

Hermit crab

I am blogging this so I can remind my family when the discussion comes up again. I am not an animal person. It is an ongoing debate in my family about whether we are going to get a pet or not. We have had a dog, but that didn't last long. We now have a hermit crab. Grandpa gave Mia a hermit crab. Zack did grant him permission first. I was never informed until it was brought home. The kids were so excited. Landon said, "I thought we would never have a pet." The excitement lasted about 45 minutes. A hermit crab is very easy to take care of. They require very little, but it is still too much for me. Everyone else was so excited, but guess who is taking care of it? Me!!! For my family (Zack, Landon, and Mia), you have lost every chance of getting another pet because you can not take care of a hermit crab. We had this discussion at dinner last night and they all informed me that I was wrong. If it was a dog, they would take care of it. I'm not buying it. I win; no more pets!!! For those of you nice moms who have pets, maybe my kids can come enjoy yours every now and then.

Pumpkin surprise

Saturday night we went to "the farm" for Uncle Larry's 60th birthday party. Karen and Larry are Zack's aunt and uncle who live in Christiana. The kids were so excited to be going to the farm. It was a great party, as usual. There were lots of activities for the kids. There was a bonfire and lots of yummy food. Karen and Larry took the kids (my older 3 and their 2 grandchildren on a hay ride to pick pumpkins. They had put already carved pumpkins out in the field for the kids to go get. They had a blast. They also had some of their friends doing kids crafts. They made bandanas, got their face painted, and got lots of fun goodies. No wonder they love going to the farm. It was a great relaxing night for Zack and I too. Zack stayed by the fire. I had lots of help with the babies. Cara was a great help. After I got the babies fed and bundled up, we passed them off to willing hands who got them to sleep. We were then able to eat and go on a hayride. It was a scary hayride. There was a ghost and a headless man chasing us. I always appreciate all Karen and Larry do!! It was a great night for all!!

The fun didn't end at the farm. With Zack starting his own business, we have really had to scale back on our spending. We had talked to the kids and told them we would not be buying a pumpkin this year. They were very understanding. Saturday night we came home to find five big pumpkins on our porch. Talk about excited- they were ready to start carving right away. Our realtor (we used for both of our houses) changed companies and used pumpkins as a way to deliver her new business cards. She left a pumpkin for each of our kids. So we went from not getting a pumpkin to 11 pumpkins. Mia's she had got at the pumpkin patch, 3 carved pumpkins from the farm, 2 baby pumpkins from the farm, and 5 big pumpkins from our realtor. Landon strategically placed each pumpkin on the porch. He would arrange them, stand back in the yard with his arms folded, and then make any necessary adjustments till he got it just right. I have no idea who he got his perfectionism from. Zack and Landon carved the big pumpkin in the middle.

Dog trap

Landon and his friend Noah made this dog trap. My pictures do not do it justice. Inside the car is a cat that they worked on for several days. The body of the cat is a bicycle seat, the tail is a pvc pipe, the head is made out of construction paper, and the legs are made out of sticks. I wanted to get a better picture of the cat, but they had it placed just right in the car and I didn't want to mess anything up.

We have a big yellow dog that lives behind us, but is always roaming the neighborhood. He likes to get into everyones garbage and do his business in everyones yard. Landon and Noah wanted to trap the dog so they could take it back home. They are hoping the dog will go after the cat in the car and then they can close the door and take the dog home. No luck so far.

This is how I found Landon the other night. He really wanted to read his book, but I guess sleep won.

We have the keys

This is the front of our building on West College. Nothing fancy, but will be a great building to start in. We have alot of work to do, but hopefully we can be up and running soon!

Still waiting

We are still waiting to get into the building. We are renting from Farrer Properties. They have been great through all this. The previous tenant has had trouble getting out on time. They were suppose to be out by October 1st. It is now the 11th. They are out, but have left everything a mess. The previous tenant will not return Farrer Properties phone calls and they put a padlock on the door. Zack took matters into his own hands. On Tuesday, he went to their new location and found the previous tenant and got the key to the padlock. The guy promised it would be cleaned the next day. Zack was atleast able to go in on Tuesday night and get a good look at the building. I went by yesterday afternoon hoping to see a clean building and get a good look for myself. No such luck, it was still a disaster. I went straight to Farrer Properties offices and they are now going to take care of things. I gave them our key. (Actually I gave them my house key--hoping they would come clean my house too. I had to take them the right key this morning.) They will be working in there today cleaning, painting, repairing, and making some other changes we requested. Hopefully I will be posting pictures this weekend of our building!

So big, so fast

Boy have Cy and Piper grown. They are changing everyday. Now that they are rolling they are always after each other- stealing binkies, sucking on hands, pulling clothes, etc. Sometimes they just tolerate it and sometimes they don't. It is so fun to watch them interact with each other.

Mia went to Gentry Farms with her kindergarten class. She got to pick out her own pumpkin. She is very proud of her pumpkin!

I can't figure out how I want my blog to look. Bear with me while I make changes. Maybe one day I will get it where I want it!

Little kicker

Piper is always kicking. It is not unusual for her to kick out of her pajamas. This is how I found her this morning. At the soccer fields we give her a soccer ball, she holds it by her feet and kicks it out of the stroller. We may have another great soccer player!

Logan's new accomplishment

I am never very excited for my kids to go back to school. I love having them home and being able to do whatever we want whenever we want. I also love having the helping hands and extra sets of eyes. Once Zack and the big kids were out the door, I thought I would do some laundry. I headed upstairs to get the dirty clothes and returned to find Logan sharing a sucker with Cy. What a nice big brother he is. The sucker was up high in a cabinet. Logan has mastered climbing on the countertops and getting what he wants out of the cabinets.

Not long after the sucker incident, I was feeding one of the babies and heard some commotion in the kitchen. I grabbed my camera and went to see what he was into this time. I found him eating a handful of cookies. No hiding place is safe. Luckily he had eaten a banana in between the two as you can see by the sticker on his forehead.

I have corrupted the poor kid. Sometimes during the day he will come up to me and say, "I need chocolate." He has a sweet tooth even at 7:30am. (Just a note...I didn't let him finish the sucker or the cookies.)

It is official...

Fowler Bros. Granite and MarbleAs of October 3, 2007, Zack owns his own granite and marble company. This has been a long time dream and goal for us. His brother Luke moved back from Georgia (not Alabama-sorry) and will be his #1 employee! We still do not have possession of the building, but hopefully will by next week. They have alot to do to get ready before they can begin working. It is exciting and scary all at the same time.

Landon and Mia are the best helpers and can sometimes talk Logan into helping them. One of their favorite things to do is the dishes!! Cy and Piper are happy babies and sooooo much fun(except from 10:00pm-6:00am)!

the beginning...

We are at a very exciting time in our life. I need some way to journal these times, so I decided to join the world of bloggers. It has become an obsession of mine to read others blogs. That is what I do while nursing babies, which is pretty much all day long. Hopefully I can figure this out!! Thanks to all the bloggers who have inspired me.
